In celebration of the Museum’s 40th Anniversary, we are excited to announce this exhibition as a tribute to our Permanent Collection. Throughout the past four decades, we have diligently collected and preserved a diverse collection of artworks that encapsulates the cultural and historical significance of our region and the broader artistic community. Our collecting mission has been rooted in the belief that collecting art is not merely a task; it is a responsibility we hold for future generations. By ensuring that these works of art—along with the narratives they convey—remain accessible, we are fostering a lasting connection between our community and the artistic expressions that define it.

This exhibition will not only showcase 40 exceptional artists, but also feature a timeline that highlights significant events from the Museum’s history over the last 40 years. These artworks will spark memories past shows, programs, and events, allowing visitors to reflect on our history.

We invite you to explore these artistic contributions that resonate with our identity and inspire ongoing dialogue about our community’s journey. Join us in celebrating our past, present, and future as we honor the artists and stories that shape our collective experience.

This exhibition features old favorites, never-before-seen artworks, and recent acquisitions—all from the Museum’s vault.

Museums were miles away when I first moved to this area. It is like a miracle that this Art Museum is free and open six days a week to all visitors and that children’s classes guiding and encouraging youngsters to enjoy art are filled each summer. New and interesting exhibits appear regularly. Art, in some form, seems to fill a human need. The leadership, the excellent staff and wonderful volunteers at this Museum provide this need in Odessa and for the area. Lasting friendships are formed and there is an atmosphere of excitement, accomplishment and enjoyment that is almost visible.

I feel it an obligation to invite newcomers and encourage residents to enjoy the Museum. It is friendly, fun and enlightening.
